Aromatherapy for Emotional Security

Self-improvement is about finding balance and happiness in our daily lives. The most important area in which we can achieve balance is in our own emotional security. After all, we cannot find true balance in relationships, our work environment, and even spiritually until we achieve self-acceptance, self-control, understanding and compassion. And while many of us believe we have a balanced sense of self, our insecurities often creep silently into our life, leaving uncertainty and regret in its wake.

Emotional security is a subtle yet profound issue because without it you can develop unhealthy behaviors and attitudes, like codependency, control, neediness, demand, low self-esteem and more. It can also affect specific areas of our lives, including our relationship and career success.

Being emotionally secure leads to a healthy life in general because there are no unhealthy attachments, you are secure to be alone or in the company of others and you do not require validation from others. You are more willing to take risks because you have the confidence you need to achieve success in every aspect of your life.

There are ways to overcome insecurity. Engage your friends and loved ones in communication about your feelings and how they can help you to feel more at ease. Working with a coach or therapist may help discover the root of your insecurities. Numerous self-help books are available to help those who struggle with insecurities and low self-esteem. It is also important to indulge in nurturing therapies such as massage and aromatherapy. Not merely "guilty pleasures," these kinds of therapies are an important way to demonstrate your self worth.

The following aromatherapy blends will support you during your drive to overcome your insecurities. These blends will help you gain a profound sense of inner peace and healthy detachment, allowing you to feel secure by eliminating any unhealthy needs you may have for validation and attention.

Prepare each of these blends by pouring the essential oils into a 10ml bottle, and then adding organic vegetable oil to fill. I recommend sweet almond, jojoba or safflower vegetable oils.

Aromatherapy to Overcome Your Financial Fears

For many people, the menacing and overpowering awareness of their financial state is enough to keep them awake at night. And it's no wonder, since we spend so much of our daily lives doing mental accounting of our finances, paying bills, and watching our paperwork pile up. This financial anxiety can be paralyzing for some, keeping them in an endless poverty consciousness cycle that actually prevents them from attracting the abundance they so desire.

If you suffer from these self-sabotaging fears, it's time to learn how to release their hold on you. And you may be surprised to learn that the remedy is really no different than treating a physical ailment.

When you are sick, you take herbs and nurture yourself in order to regain your health. Apply this principle to your emotional state and use action to relieve your symptoms. Include a simple ritual and a customized aromatherapy blend to your daily routine and you will soon find yourself free from the financial fears that were holding you back.

Start by taking the following actions to welcome prosperity into your life:

--Clear the Clutter--
Are you apprehensive about your accounting, allowing it to pile up and clutter your life? Consider the negative message that sends about your abilities to manage your finances. Eliminating clutter is a major principle in Feng Shui. When you clear it, you also eliminate the emotional clutter as well. Do a major de-cluttering this week. Make it a point to organize your papers, file your receipts, etc. Then, make sure to maintain your new sense of order.

--Change Your Perspective on the Situation--
We are often reluctant to address our finances because we are afraid of what we will find. Will we find more debt? Will we discover we have less money than we need? Change your perspective today by doing an inventory of your life. Make a list of all your goods: possessions, relationships, success stories, health, etc. See how much you have on hand instead of how much you lack. And remember, no matter how bad it gets, there is always a way out.

--Aromatic Blend to Transcend Your Financial Fears--
This blend will boost your confidence, willpower, and courage. In a 10-ml bottle, add the following essential oils and fill with an organic vegetable oil:

5 drops Bay leaves Essential Oil
5 drops Rosemary Essential Oil
4 drops Cinnamon Essential Oil

Anoint the solar plexus, lower back. Pour a few drops into the palm of your hands and breathe it in deeply. Use it in the morning, when feeling scared or anxious about a financial situation.

Order the oils you need to prepare your blend:

--Your 10-Minute Ritual--
This exercise will replenish your body and mind in positive energy, thus helping you attract abundance into your life.

Sit silently in a quiet place for several minutes. Visualize yourself surrounded by and absorbing a golden color within your entire body, each organ, each cell. Imagine it radiating out. Hold this vision for at least 10 minutes. Feel how your body is full of this golden color.

Pour a few drops of the aromatic blend into the palms of your hands and breathe it in deeply. Say the following affirmation three times aloud:

"I am the creator of my own wealth and take action today toward abundance"

What is Aromatherapy?

What is Aromatherapy? It is the practice of using volatile plant oils (and essential oils) for physical and psychological well-being.

Before I get started take note that fragrance oils (fragrances) are not essential oils. This is because they contain unnatural chemicals and do not provide therapeutic benefits like essential oils.

Essential oils are the pure "essence" of a plant and when used properly will provide both psychological and physical benefits. There are many essential oils. Absolutes, CO2s and hydrosols are also commonly utilized in aromatherapy. CO2s and absolutes are often defined as part of the term "essential oil".

Essential oils are very powerful and concentrated and should never be applied to the skin in their undiluted form. When applied to the skin essential oils are believed to be absorbed into the bloodstream. The components of the various oils are believed to aid in a variety of physical conditions including: health, hygiene, mental and beauty. To apply essential oils to the skin carrier oils (pure vegetable oils) are used to dilute the essential oils and carry them to the skin. Examples of carrier oils include (but are not limited to): apricot kernel oil, sweet almond oil and grapeseed oil.

Inhaling essential oils is believed to offer both physical and psychological benefits. The aroma of a natural essential oil stimulate's the brain to trigger a reaction. The naturally occurring chemicals in essential oil are drawn into the lungs and can supply a physical benefit, as well. Be careful. It is easy to use essential oils in a dangerous way.

Oils can be blended together to provide a specific therapeutic action, or pleasing aroma. Synergistically blending oils in proper proportions is considered to have a further reaching effect than that of each oil working alone. This is what the art of essential oil blends is all about.

Aromatherapy for Stress Relief at Work

Most people work a 40 hour week so we can estimate that we typically spend about 2,000 hours at work each year. And many people work even more than this. Yet we often dont take the time to ensure that our job setting is a pleasant place to be. Our jobs are often very stressful and stress is a known trigger for many common ailments and diseases. Many studies have been done on the relationship between job stress and a variety of ailments. Mood and sleep disturbances, upset stomach, headaches and disturbed relationships with family and friends are examples of stress related problems that are quick to develop.

Before you think about stress reduction, start by identifying the particular stresses in your work and the effect they have on you. What, specifically, is it about your work situation that makes you feel anxious, angry, frustrated, burned out, depressed, etc? Do you have a difficult boss or co-worker? Do you have too much work and not enough time to do it? When you come up with your list of stressors, address them one at a time.

Managing stress is a slow and measured process that should take place over time and not all at once. Take stock of the situation and make a note of the things that are causing you the most concern. Look at things that you can do, or ask for support that will ease the situation, no matter how small. Set some achievable goals towards removing the problem. Think back to some similar situations you have overcome and apply these lessons.

A common reaction to a stressful situation is to try to escape, at least temporarily, by taking a coffee break or a quick smoke. But this only adds to the toxins in your body and does not attempt to deal with the underlying causes. A more effective response is to confront the tasks that cause you stress. Develop healthy habits one day at a time. Take a short walk in the morning, eat regularly, take time over your meals, and keep in touch with your mind and body.

It can be very beneficial to change your own outlook and actions rather than trying to change others who you believe are the cause of your stress. No matter what the causes of your tension and stress are, there are many strategies you can use to help protect you against the ill effects of stress. We elaborate on a different strategy to relieve stress each month in this newsletter.

Implementing aromatherapy into your life can go a long way in easing your stress as well as the stress levels of others around you. One of the main attributes of pure essential oils is their ability to relieve stress with immediate positive benefits. Because of the emotional elements which are at play in stress-related conditions, the choice of essential oils depends largely on the causes of the problem and the temperment of each individual and how they respond under pressure. Only use oils that appeal to you. If you do not like the scent, it will not have the desired effect.

There are many ways to bring aromatherapy into the workplace. Diffusers heat essential oils and allows their molecules to be released into the atmosphere. Inhaling different essential oils can alter your mood, stimulate creativity, help concentration and rid an area of airborne viruses and bacteria. Scenting your office with Lavender essential oil is said to reduce computer errors at least 25%.
If you have to work in an air conditioned or stuffy building, using essential oils in a diffuser or spritzing a spritzer can really clear the air. Geranium, Lavender, Lemon, Peppermint and Rosemary are all excellent for a quick pick me up. Try Chamomile, Lavender, Orange or Sandalwood oil. All are thought to help combat stress and tension. Here are a few more ideas to get you started.

If you cant use a diffuser at work, simply put a drop of essential oil on a tissue and keep with you to sniff whenever you need to.

Put a few drops of your favorite essential oil on the cardboard tube inside a roll of toilet paper to fragrance the bathroom at work.

Let scent be your calling card. Simply add your favorite essential oils to cotton balls and place your business cards and the cotton balls in a box with a lid. Keep tightly closed for at least 1 week.

Mix 5 drops of Lavender essential oil (or your favorite oil) into about a
teaspoon of Jojoba or Almond oil. Dab on a cloth and wipe the surfaces of your desk
and top of the computer. When the heat of the computer warms the oil there is a
pleasant fresh fragrance wafting through the air.

There is help for your stress! Aromatherapy has been proven to be excellent for stress relief as well as increasing productivity and efficiency levels. The possibilities are only limited to your imagination. For more ideas and information, check out our website that is over 100 pages large and growing.

Use Aromatherapy to Promote Joy in Your Home

Aromatherapy has been around for at least 4,000 years, and is known to have been used by the ancient Egyptians for massage, healing, and embalming. But its uses for making our homes enjoyable places to live are just as applicable today as they were during Egyptian times.

Aromatherapy has been around for at least 4,000 years, and is known to have been used by the ancient Egyptians for massage, healing, and embalming. But its uses for making our homes enjoyable places to live are just as applicable today as they were during Egyptian times.

Scents and Sentiments

Although its not generally known, our sense of smell is the one we human beings use more than any other. We have to open our eyes in order to see; our ears hear only sporadically; we need to eat something to taste it; and we need to touch something to feel it. But we don't have to do anything in order to smell. With that in mind, we should be able to enjoy any room in our homes just as much with our eyes closed as with them open.

Human Reaction to Scents

Our olfactory senses have a profound impact on our emotions and can arouse powerful memories. For instance, just close your eyes and remember about how you felt the last time you smelled fresh bread baking in the oven. On the other hand, being constantly bombarded by unpleasant scents will make people irritable and more likely to act out in anger.

Human beings have strong reactions to scents, and some people are more sensitive to scents than others. A homes occupants eventually get used to their homes odors, and often aren't even aware of them. After all, humans are territorial by nature, and the scent of our home is reassuring to us. But scents can also be used to enhance the positive feelings we want to encourage within our homes.

If you want to promote harmony and good feelings in your home, for your family and for visitors, you must introduce scents that support pleasant memories and behavior while ridding your home of offensive odors that can have a negative effect.

Which essential oils will bring about the most desirable effects?

Aromatherapists recommend using only natural oils, rather than synthetic ones, even if those artificial oils have been derived from natural sources, because the exact formulation of an essential oil is virtually impossible to reproduce in the laboratory.

Essential oils help with virtually every human condition, and aromatherapists have developed a wide array of scents to help their clients cope with whatever situation they may be facing in their lives. Therapists formulated essential oil aphrodisiacs, energizers, and oil combinations designed to help with relaxation, hair and skin care, and even the symptoms of PMS.

Your home should be a place harmony and good feelings, and the use of aromatherapy can be a powerful tool in your quest to bring peace and joy into your interior living space.
